Carlton Youth League Ends

CHAMPIONS IN BOTH GIRLS' AND BOYS' EVENTS

The Carlton Youth League, organised by our federation and sponsored by Anıl Spor, ended on Thursday 30 June 2016 with the fifth week's matches at the Atatürk Sports Hall. Near East University (NEU) won both the girls' and boys' leagues. In the girls' league, the University of Kyrenia finished second and Hedef Badminton third; in the boys' league, Hedef Badminton were second and the University of Kyrenia third.
After the final week's matches, Federation President Fırat Deniz said a youth league had been held in badminton for the first time in a long while. He said they had been worried about whether clubs would take part, but that 12 teams – 7 girls' and 5 boys' – showed they were on the right track. He congratulated the club officials, athletes and referees, noting that thanks to their dedication the matches continued without interruption despite the heat. He said young people's love of badminton made them feel all the more obliged to organise such events and pushed the federation to work even harder. He said success comes from everyone's contribution, that the management had done this well during its first year in office, and thanked the Sports Department, the clubs, athletes, coaches and the press for their support.

Cups and medals were presented after the speeches. In the girls' event, Sports Department foreign relations officer Sertaç Bozatlı presented the cup to first-placed NEU, MP Ersin Tatar to second-placed University of Kyrenia, and the Federation Finance Director to third-placed Hedef Badminton.
