Regarding Güneş Sports Club athletes who competed abroad without permission: it has been established that Güneş Sports Club athletes (Aral Polili, İzgi Mertdin, Jacob Özikiz and Salih D. Öztürk) took out licences in South Cyprus and took part in a national tournament there on 16-17 September 2023 without the federation's permission. Although we updated our competition regulations on 18 September 2023 to state that anyone playing in another country without the federation's permission would no longer be admitted to any official or private tournament in our country, it was established that they did not comply. The TRNC Badminton Federation licences of Salih Doğu Öztürk, who wrote to the Turkish Badminton Federation on 20 September 2023 to withdraw from the Turkish national team in order to play in South Cyprus, and of Aral Polili, İzgi Mertdin and Jacob Özikiz, who competed for the South Cyprus national team at an international tournament in South Cyprus on 15-17 December 2023 without the federation's permission, have been cancelled with a permanent ban from competition, and their records on our official website have been removed by decision of the Board. The decision was taken under the TRNC Physical Education and Sports Law (Laws No. 8/1978, 31/1981, 4/1986 and 88/1991) and article 31 (Unauthorised Duty Abroad) of the General Penalty Regulations, in conjunction with articles 13 and 36.
Article 31: "Persons who serve in or take part in competitions for the national or representative team of a foreign country without permission from the Sports Department and the relevant federation shall be punished with a permanent ban from competition or permanent loss of rights."
