CHAMPIONS IN BOTH GIRLS' AND BOYS' EVENTS
The Carlton Juniors League, organised by our federation and sponsored by Anıl Spor, ended on Wednesday 10 May 2017 with the fifth week's matches at the NEU Sports Hall. Near East University (NEU) won both the girls' and boys' leagues. The University of Kyrenia finished second and Net Spor Club third in both.
Award ceremony:
In the league, which began on 21 April and ended on 10 May, 125 matches were played across 25 fixtures (15 girls' and 10 boys'). The placing teams received their awards at a ceremony at the Atatürk Sports Hall at 13.00 on 13 May.
In his speech before the ceremony, TRNC Badminton Federation President Fırat Deniz said that 11 clubs taking part with 6 girls' and 5 boys' teams showed they were on the right track. He congratulated the club officials, athletes and referees, noting that thanks to their dedication the matches continued without interruption despite the heat. He said young people's love of badminton made them feel all the more obliged to organise such events and pushed the federation to work even harder. He said success comes from everyone's contribution, that the management had done this well during its two years in office, and thanked the Sports Department, the Turkish Badminton Federation, the clubs, athletes, coaches and the press for their support. After the speech, participation plaques were presented to club representatives, followed by certificates, medals and cups for the athletes. As last year, NEU won both titles, with the University of Kyrenia second and Net Spor third in both events. Gençlik Gücü finished fourth in the girls' league and Akdeniz Spor Birliği fourth in the boys' league. Gençlik Gücü finished last among the boys; among the girls, Kültür Spor were fifth and Akdeniz Spor Birliği last.
